A bartender is never just a bartender, and that is where the exhaustion starts. We talk through the real job behind the job: mixing and moving fast while also acting like a therapist, a bouncer, a janitor, a phone-charging help desk, and the person who somehow has to keep the whole room calm. If you have ever wondered why service industry burnout hits so hard, the answer is in the constant context-switching and the pressure to stay friendly no matter what the night throws at you.

We also get blunt about bartending school. We are not against learning, but most bars do not need flair tricks or a certificate. They need someone who can barback, stock, stay composed in the weeds, and learn the flow of a busy shift. From there, we get into what makes a bar actually feel welcoming, including why we think bar owners should sometimes have a drink at their own bar to experience lighting, music, layout, and pacing the same way guests do.

Then we take a sharp turn into modern life: parking lot beeps, e-bike safety, and why kids flying at 20 mph without helmets is starting to look like an emergency room pipeline. And yes, we address one of the strangest internet trends we have seen lately: “pheromone maxing”, including claims that some people are skipping deodorant and even drinking urine. We close with songs of the week and a mini-rant on lawns, landscaping, and the surprisingly useful backyard ecology that is fighting pests for you.
